Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering
University of Southern California
Los Angeles, CA 90089-1453

Fokion N. Egolfopoulos received his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis in 1990, spending the last two years of his doctoral research at Princeton University. He was subsequently associated with the Combustion and Fuels Laboratory at Princeton University as a Research Associate from June 1990 to August 1991. In August of 1991, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at USC where he is now Associate Professor. His research interests include aerodynamic and kinetic processes in flames, two-phase reacting flows, pollutant-formation processes, and microgravity combustion. He is the recipient of the Silver Medal of the Combustion Institute for his contributions in the area of strained laminar flames. At USC, he was appointed to the Fred O'Green Assistant Professorship in Engineering and has been the recipient of the Faculty of the Month, as well as Junior Faculty Research, and Teaching Awards.
