Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Steve Haan received his bachelor's degree in 1973 from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his PhD from the University of Maryland in 1977. Following post-docs at the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg and at UC Berkeley, he joined Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 1981. Since then he has been in X-division at LLNL, working on target design and modeling for ICF. He worked on the Halite/Centurion program of underground tests for ICF, and currently is working on theory and modeling of hydrodynamic instabilities in ICF targets, on design and modeling of Omega experiments, and on the design and modeling of targets for the National Ignition Facility.
