Tobias Voelkl

Tobias Voelkl is a graduate student at GALCIT and is expected to receive his Ph.D. in June 2000. He received a M.S. in Aeronautics from Caltech in 1996. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Munich University of Technology from 1991-95 (Vordiplom 1993).

He is working with Prof. Dale I. Pullin on large-eddy simulation of incompressible flows with a new physical-space version of the stretched-vortex subgrid-stress model.

He was awarded GALCIT's Earnest Sechler (1999) and Rolf D. Buhler (1996) Awards. In 1999, he was a speaker at the joint GALCIT-DLR Liepmann-Ludwieg Seminar. From 1994-1997, he was recipient of a scholarship of the German National Merit Foundation, and from 1991-96 he also received a merit scholarship of the State of Bavaria.
