Dr. Rodney D. W. Bowersox [PhD (1992), MS (1990) and BS (1988) all in Aerospace Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech)] began his professional career at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Jan. 1993. He is currently an associate professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. Dr. Bowersox specializes in experimental and computational fluid mechanics, gas dynamics and turbulence. His research interests include high-speed and unsteady flow fields, laser/optical experimental methods, flow control and turbulence modeling, with applications in aerodynamics and aerospace propulsion. His sponsors include the AFOSR, AFRL, ARO, DARPA and Private Industry. His research program has produced over 80 technical articles and 26 advanced degrees. He was awarded five Air Force Scientific Achievement Awards (1996-1997) and the Col. Charles A. Stone Award (1995) for leadership for his high-speed fluid dynamics research program. Dr. Bowersox is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA and he recently served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Propulsion and Power. He currently serves as an U.S. National Committee Member of the International Society for Air Breathing Engines.
