Carl Friehe received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1961, and his M.S. (1964) and Ph.D. (1968) degrees, also in Chemical Engineering, from Stanford University, with W. H. Schwarz. He then moved to Johns Hopkins University as a postdoctoral fellow, was on the Research Staff at UCSD AMES and Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 1969-1978 and was with the National Center for Atmospheric Research Aviation Research Facility from 1978-1982. He has been at UCI since 1982, in Mechanical Engineering and Earth System Science Departments. Research interests are in atmospheric turbulence, boundary-layer meteorology, and turbulence instrumentation.
